ATL Streetwear Market Here To Stay

Last updated:

Wind biting, the sun shining. Wells Street was crawling with ATLiens dressed in some of streetwear’s finest for the second Atlanta Streetwear Market of the year.

In a 10,000 square foot building, there were more than 3,000 people in attendance, 30 plus brands, and several interactive pop-ups. When I stepped foot into Ambient Studios that Sunday afternoon, I couldn’t take in everything fast enough. Each corner of the venue and every facet of each brand booth held its own “wow factor.” Paintings, striking colors, funky patterns, all contained in this bright open space. You name it and it was there. The venue was live and in full effect by the time I arrived and stayed at a max 10 all night long. It was as though the party held at The Bakery the night prior flowed over to Market day. If you’ve ever wanted to simultaneously experience an impromptu fashion show, receive fashion advice from a total stranger, and bond over music with otherwise unknown people, then this was the one place to do it.

I left later that night having been exposed to local brands like: Thrift Guru, TrynaB Studios, and Dope Overdose Studios. I was turned on to up and coming artists like master of the turntables that night, DJ Oceanz, a woman selector making waves around the city. Mixing and mingling with so many creatives gave insight to the pulse of the creative scene in Atlanta. More than a party and a market rolled into one, it served as a networking event as well.

The founders of ASWM have built a space for creatives to find and foster community, and make connections on a biannual basis. For my first year attending, I couldn’t ask for better experience. Let’s see what is in store for next year.
