Richard Ashia’s View of Ghana

Last updated:

Richard Ashia is a 24-year-old photographer and graphic artist from Ghana. He started his photography journey in 2015 and found it to be the most suitable channel for him to express himself, explore the Ghanaian culture, and meet people.

As an artist, I believe in self-expression and experimenting and I try to show that through my photographs. I hope to travel the world, especially within Africa, and share my images in the hopes of positively impacting someone’s life.

Meditations on Water

HOPE: There were instances when I was a child where I almost drowned. I shot this image to explain how I felt during that moment. Sometimes, we give up on hope too early.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS: This picture reminds me of my childhood, of a time when my friends and I always prayed for rain so that we could play in it. For me personally, those days never ended happily, because I knew my mom would be waiting at home with a cane. Those were some sweet days.

BEAUTY OF WATER: I wanted to show the beauty of water. Almost drowning as a kid should have made me afraid of water, but somehow it brought me closer to it.
