Trial + Error is the first video series by Quaint Revolt magazine, in which I sit down with creatives and trailblazers to discuss their journeys. As a startup founder, I know how difficult it is when you are starting out. QR is a prime example of bootstrapping it, a series of constant trial and error. But that is where the magic lies because it’s when we are the most creative. Having experienced the thrill of troubleshooting toward exceptional results, I wanted to document similar stories from other figures in the African-Diaspora who’ve done it too.
This inaugural episode features businessman TK Petersen, Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of The Gathering Spot. Inspired by our shared Caribbean roots, I invited the Virgin Islands native to chat about how he lives creatively, his favorite V.I. grub and much more.
A little context for you: this was my first video interview ever! I sweated nervously throughout the conversation until I got somewhat comfortable. You might wonder how I’ve made it as a journalist in the digital age with camera-shyness. The truth is, I avoided all broadcast projects in college and my career up to this point. Creating this project was yet another moment of trial and error for us. We muscled through heavy rains, distracting background chatter and an unexpected fire alarm. Needless to say, I am super proud of what we’ve produced. All praises go out to the amazing team that made this possible:
